MUSCAT: Raysut Industrial City secured nine new projects worth RO 6.5 million in the first half of 2026, as occupancy of its developed areas reached about 98 per cent.

The industrial city, operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), received about 27 investment applications during the period. The new projects cover food processing, iron manufacturing, mining and services, among other activities, and occupy more than 32,700 square metres.

Management also addressed five stalled projects by replacing them with projects in targeted sectors.

Hamid bin Ali Bait Saeed, Acting Director of Raysut Industrial City, said cumulative investment exceeded RO 521 million at the end of June.

The city employed 3,681 people, including 1,582 Omanis, equivalent to about 43 per cent of its workforce.

Raysut covers more than 3.99 million square metres, with planned future expansions spanning about 10.05 million square metres.

Bait Saeed said Madayn was developing water and sewerage services for the city’s second and third phases, alongside studies and master planning for further expansion.

Approved projects expected to begin soon include infrastructure for new areas, construction of the Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex and an upgrade of the security system. The work is intended to accommodate further investment applications and improve services for businesses.

Raysut is about four kilometres from the Port of Salalah and 15 kilometres from Salalah Airport, giving manufacturers access to transport links serving markets in the Horn of Africa and Asia, as well as proximity to Yemen.

Management is seeking to build on Dhofar Governorate’s location and resources to attract food and pharmaceutical businesses.

It is also working with partners to explore investment opportunities in medical supply chains and develop a food industry cluster. — ONA
